This blog was started in September 2010, the time I left private practice to move in-house, so I could keep a record of life after moving in-house, of my preps for my wedding day, of my honeymoon and life as missus. So this blog is really a blog about the happiest and most carefree days of my life. I am thankful I updated my blog often enough during this one and a half year period (the only long lapse being the time I was pregnant) because it gives me great joy to re-read my entries, on not so good days. It’s a reminder of happy times! This is why it’s great to keep a blog. It keeps a nice record of the little things in life, no matter how insignificant, so long as you choose to blog about it. I only wish I had updated my blog more often during my pregnancy days. I’m sure that period will become a blur to me someday
Recently, I decided to start another blog to chronicle Aly’s milestones and developments (mainly for ys and myself and maybe for Aly’s reading pleasure (I hope) next time), and to record useful information about stuff mums need, since I’ve been getting quite a number of questions on things like strollers, diaper bags, breastfeeding etc. I thought it’ll also be useful reference, if I do have a second kid or if someone comes to me with questions. It’s really more of a database than anything else. Since most of you who read my blog are my friends, I also didn’t want to bore you to death with details like when Aly started cooing, did her first flip, took her first spoonful of semi-solids. So I thought I’ll maintain two blogs – this shall continue to be my primary blog where I blog about the random happenings in my life, and the other blog to contain reviews, useful contacts and recommendations for other mums, as well as anything about Aly. Then I find myself updating the other blog most of the time because my life almost completely revolves around Aly at the moment. Of course this should get better once she gets older and once I return to work but currently it’s really all about her!
Motherhood has really changed my life in more ways than I could ever imagine. No more sleeping in, no more spontaneous suppers, lesser chances of hanging out late and dining in fancy restaurants. Watching DVDs at home and being able to finish a movie without Aly crying is already luxury, much less visiting the cinema. Life is indeed very very different. Instead of posting food reviews and recipes for baking and cooking (which never quite took off), I find myself wanting to review that stroller or some disgusting nursing room I visited So I thought, since Aly has brought about a new chapter in my life, I shall just “close” this blog and redirect all my posts to the other blog, which will have a primary focus on my parenting journey with ys.
So as boring as my life may sound right now, do drop by my other blog, and share the joys and woes of my life with baby in tow!
